This whole-home window treatment project in Louisville, Colorado demonstrates how early collaboration between interior designers and window treatment specialists can elevate both the design and functionality of a home.

Custom drapery and motorized shades installed throughout a Louisville, Colorado home designed in collaboration with Flemming Interiors.
This recent project, completed in collaboration with award-winning Flemming Interiors, is a perfect example of how thoughtful partnership can elevate the final result. By working closely with Steph Flemming and her team throughout the build process, we helped develop window treatment solutions that supported the design vision while ensuring flawless functionality for the homeowners.
For interior designers across Denver and the surrounding communities, this kind of collaboration can make all the difference in how a project ultimately performs and feels.
Note: The photos shown here were taken shortly after installation, before furnishings and final styling were completed. Even so, we couldn’t wait to share a first look at the window treatments, and we’ll update this post with finished photography once the home is fully revealed.
Bringing Window Treatment Expertise Into the Design Process
For this home, we were brought into the project well before construction was complete. That early involvement allowed us to guide the technical aspects of the window treatments, which is particularly important for projects incorporating motorization and automation.
Custom homes often include architectural features that require careful planning, from angled ceilings and oversized windows to recessed drapery pockets and whole-home automation systems. When these details are addressed during construction rather than after, the end result is far more seamless.

Early collaboration allowed us to design window treatments that align seamlessly with the architecture, lighting, and overall design intent of the home.
Throughout this project, we collaborated closely with the designer, builder, and AV team to ensure the home was properly prepared for custom window treatments. From specifying motorization systems to confirming wiring requirements and mounting locations, the groundwork we established early helped ensure installation day went smoothly.
For interior designers, having a window treatment specialist involved during these phases provides a valuable layer of technical guidance that protects both the design vision and the client experience.
Supporting the Designer’s Vision
In every designer partnership, our role is clear: support the creative direction while managing the technical details behind the scenes.
For this Louisville home, Flemming Interiors led the design direction, including the overall aesthetic, fabric selections, and the visual story for each space. Our responsibility was to translate those ideas into window treatment solutions that would function beautifully within the home’s architecture.
Rather than influencing aesthetic decisions, we focus on the nuances that ensure the treatments perform as intended—light control, privacy, motorization compatibility, and fabrication details. This approach allows designers to remain fully in control of the creative process while knowing the technical aspects are handled by a dedicated specialist.
It’s a partnership that simplifies the process for designers while elevating the final result for the homeowner.
Custom Window Treatments Designed for Each Space
This whole-home installation included a variety of custom window treatments designed specifically for the architecture and lifestyle of the homeowners. By layering different treatment styles, including drapery panels, Roman shades (including top-down, bottom-up), and roller shades throughout the house, we were able to maintain visual cohesion while tailoring functionality to each room.

One memorable space is a floor-to-ceiling color-drenched music room, where the window treatments support the room’s dramatic palette and immersive atmosphere.
In high-traffic spaces like the kitchen, we also incorporated high-performance fabrics that provide durability alongside beauty, offering resistance to sunlight, stains, and everyday wear while maintaining the elevated look expected in a custom home.
Integrating Motorized Window Treatments
Motorization played a major role in this project, with a hardwired Somfy Zigbee shading system integrated into the home’s automation platform. Hardwired motorized shades require careful coordination during construction, including proper electrical planning and communication with the AV team responsible for the home’s technology infrastructure.
By working alongside the integrator during the build phase, we ensured the system would connect seamlessly with the home’s automation controls. The result is a shading system that allows the homeowners to manage light, privacy, and comfort with ease throughout the day.

Motorized window treatments are becoming increasingly common in luxury homes across Denver, particularly for large windows, hard-to-reach areas, and homes designed with expansive natural light.
